Lucky and Liz were once a beloved couple in the 90s, with undeniable chemistry between Rebecca Herbst and Jonathan Jackson. Their love story spiked up when unfortunately on Valentine’s Day of 1998, Liz was assaulted in the woods. Lucky found her and cared for her, was her emotional support which lead to a blossoming love. Despite their popularity, the couple faced challenges when JJ left the show and was replaced by Jacob Young (2000).
The recast changed the dynamic of Liz and Lucky’s relationship, especially when Lucky’s personality was altered due to Helena Cassadine’s brainwashing. The cycle of breakups, reunions, and friendship continued. When Lucky returned again, portrayed by Greg Vaughn (2004), the chemistry improved but still couldn’t match the original version. This was a difficult time for them, filled with abuse, affairs, and being different from what they once were. Lucky and Liz’s relationship has been like a rollercoaster, but it seems they were never able to fully regain what they lost after Lucky’s “death” in 1999. Even when JJ had returned, things got worst.
We can only speculate about what might have happened to this couple if Lucky hadn’t “died” in 1999, but considering everything that has happened since then it appears that the soap fans has a long memory of their entire history not just their 1990s heights. Based on the fan response, more than 70% are opposed to another remake of this couple, while over 20% still believe that the original charm can be restored and better writing can fix what’s been damaged.
Can Aiden’s love reunite his parents as they reminisce about the past? Or will they choose to co-parent amicably to maintain a good relationship?
